EVERYTHING MUST GO P.T.2 (2024)

MONEY - CASH - BREAD - DOUGH - GREEN - READIES - MOOLA - WONGA...
Some say it makes the world go round...
but isn’t money just a consensual hallucination??
Shangri-La returns to Worthy Farm with EVERYTHING MUST GO PT2,
The Sequel: a brand new exploration of alternative currencies, exchanges and values. As a new political future approaches, and everyone has the opportunity to cast their vote, Shangri-La is a space to stop and to think.
What would happen if we ripped it up and started again?

PARADE
Upon entering Shangri-La you are met with an all too familiar scene – empty shops, run down facades and the harsh light of digital advertising screens. Serving as a poignant reflection of the current state of UK high streets, the parade is at first brutal and all too (sur)real..But all is not lost…look closer and you’ll find hope in the cracks that capitalism has created. This is not just an exhibit; it’s a call to action, an invitation to envision and create a more vibrant, sustainable future.
The highstreet has seen better days. But Shangri-La’s got the hottest selection of thriving industries right here for your delight. From Data Dealers’ surveillance and distraction to hotdesking hype house the InfluenZoo: We’ve got you covered. The Fulfilment Centre houses so many uplifting and spiritual products, we need an army of workers to fulfil your wellness goals: The Time Chuggers will optimise your free time for maximum productivity, usefulness and self worth. In an up and coming area like this you’ll be looking for your home sweet home: Bludd Lettings is here to make that dream come true!
Look carefully for the haunting installation Ghost Town by Haus of Lucy, and inside a closed down comic shop, a digital anomaly from Seth Troxler’s Lost Souls of Saturn has landed. Are you lucky enough to be a winner? Come grab a meal for you and your family at the HM Government food bank by Foka Wolf and Imbue and watch money melt away at Knobhead Industries x Ordos Liquidated enterprise. Tat Vision are back in their multi-use space/workshop/studio and now gym… which has enticed the billionaires in through the accidental gentrification they’ve unwillingly helped create…
Saving our street from annihilation, are Happy Swappers – The Swapermarket by Tootles and Nibs who’s meanwhile projects fills the void of yet another empty shop. The COPY SHOP is community space – run by artists will take care of all your print-based needs, while the REVOLUTIONARY BOOKSHOP inspires the next generation of movers, thinkers and agitators.
The SHANGRIMART is still a friendly fixture on the parade –
EVERYTHING MUST DEFINITELY GO!

At the heart of Shangri-La is a world of hope and acceptance and this year we presented a one-off arena in response to what’s happening all over the world –
THE PEACE STAGE – a place to come together in solidarity. Love is the only answer.
The Peace Stage occupies an abandoned shopping mall at the end of The Parade, where the only consuming is of culture. This is where the most exciting new talent and legendary acts performed side by side. Each day, the occupiers spread their message of love through art interventions, speeches and performance – uniting us all.
Dancers in residence Shade Cartel were based here, bringing the vibe with their queer, inclusive collective. Artwork and occupied spaces by Fart Attack, Benjamin Irritant, Wondercloud, Carry On Screening, Dr D, Foka Wolf, Peter Kennard, Dion Kitson, Black Lodge Press, Broken Fingaz, Miles Glynn, and glastonbury festival goers.

Glastonbury Festival’s first dedicated South Asian space, Arrivals was designed in collaboration with Shangri-La, Dialled In, Daytimers and Going South and is conceptualised by an entirely South Asian team.
Visitors to Arrivals were transported through a portal to an alien jungle planet, immersed by an audio visual world coded in solar punk, carnivorous plants, cyborg beasts and space pirates. Bridging across nostalgia to futurism, a sensory feast of vivid lights and colours, the space remixes the worlds of pulp sci-fi classics within a newly redefined South Asian aesthetic.
Artists playing include the revered DJ Ritu, an icon of the 90s Asian Underground scene, as well as emerging artists such as Anish Kumar, Gracie T and mainstays like Manara and Nabihah Iqbal.
The stage was designed by Shankho Chaudhuri, Esha Sikander and Shirin Naveed and featured the work of iIllustrator Osheen Siva.

On Thursday and Friday Novara Media and Danny Fucking Price will take to the stage – bringing with them a host of activists, speakers and comedians to engage with the audience on a diverse mix of subjects.

NOMAD AREA
Unite under the symbolic structure of resistance that is The Watchtower by
Project Bunny Rabbit, and take part in our powerful and brilliant protest party that
raises up the underrepresented where we rewrite history together.
Featuring some of the UK’s most inspiring and subversive minds, the
Activists Training Camp is a hive of activity led by artists, innovators, culture jammers, activists and anarchists – all exploring what community is and can become.
TAKE PART in a multitude of workshops, talks, interactive installations, sculptures and soundscapes to educate and inspire, Bring your families – all ages, all genders, all welcome.
This year we invited people to learn the history of protest with the Resistance Gallery, take a rest from capitalism with Rachael Taylor, print DIY political tees with Giant Triplets, become immersed in the Reel News Radical Cinema, take a trip into the shady world of greenwashing with Spelling Mistakes Cost Lives’ Hell Bus, and join The Chapel of Unrest by Rockaway Park to collectively build a church dedicated to protest culture.

The Sistxrhood continues to evolve in step with the gender revolution and this year it was open to all, whilst remaining a safe space hosting everything from workshops to parties.
The Sistxrhood is a safe(r) space for all women, non-binary and trans people, marginalised genders, Disabled people and our allies. A space to uplift, empower and support one another. We ask everyone to be respectful of this space, those who it is for, and each other.
